I live in Wilder, Vermont. I studied art at Western Carolina University and Monmouth College, where I graduated. I also had the opportunity to study stone carving with Inuit artists at the Carving Studio in Rutland, VT learning traditional design and techniques.
I work part time as a professional bench jeweler. In my busy schedule I squeeze in painting, sculpting, and gardening.
The subject matter for my artwork comes from the sketches I do year round. My time is divided between sculpting and painting. During the summer I set up a canopy in the back yard and chisel away on blocks of soapstone. I also build stretcher frames, finished frames, and stretch my canvas so I am ready to start painting in the winter. My paintings are done in acrylic on canvas. I have done a few on ¼" plywood.
My artwork has been exhibited at the Chaffee Art Center, Rutland, VT and in a variety of places in the Upper Valley, including the AVA Gallery in Lebanon, NH, the V Gallery, and the Pegasus Gallery. I have donated work for auction to benefit the Windsor Public Library, Cory’s Field, Plainfield, NH, and the Marty Layman Benefit Action.
